Delaware state law gives new residents 60 days to get a Delaware driver’s license and register their vehicles.  You must turn in your license from your previous state of residence.  You’ll need to have your Social Security card, old license or birth certificate, and two documents with your Delaware address.  Drivers under 18 or with non-US licenses will have to take a written and road test.  Commercial driver’s licenses must be switched over within 30 days.

To register your vehicle, you’ll need a proof of insurance and ownership.  Also, if the vehicle is less than 5 years old, you’ll need to get a safety and emissions inspection.  Registration will come out to about $40 plus a percentage of your vehicle’s value.
