Syracuse Neighborhoods

Downtown
Life here revolves around Armory Square.  The area has about 30 restaurants, plus a fair amount of bars and pubs.  There’s also plenty of retail space to keep shoppers happy.  Just a short distance away is Hanover Square, which is a little less crowded but no less entertaining section of Downtown.

Eastwood
Eastwood used to be an independent village that was absorbed by Syracuse years ago.  It still has an independent feel and James Street provides the former village with its own downtown area.

Little Italy
Little Italy is on the northeast side of the city.  It’s got plenty of everything Italian, from shops to restaurants and bakeries.  If you’re in the mood for some good pasta, fine leather goods, or just to sit down and enjoy some espresso and a gelato, this is the place for you.

University Hill
Marshall Street is loaded with shops, restaurants, and other establishments catering the Syracuse University’s student population, along with the thousands of people who work there and in the surrounding area.  East Genesee Street also has some shops on it.

Westcott
Westcott is were many of Syracuse University’s students make their bed at night, and as such, is has a fair amount of stores and cafes catering to the student set, though it loses the manic atmosphere that sometimes pervades University Hill.
