Calgary Tower is a 600 ft tall tower with a revolving restaurant and scenic views of downtown Calgary. There’s also a glass walkway encircling the tower, so you can look and see straight below you. The top has a natural gas flame that burns for special occasions.

The Calgary Zoo is absolutely world class, with more than 290 different species of animals housed within its confines on the east side of the city. The zoo also has a botanical garden and a prehistoric park. It’s organized into a dozen or so different themed areas, like the arctic, primate facilities, and a nocturnal exhibit.
Canada Olympic Park

Canada Olympic Park was the site of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, and continues to function as a multi-sport training and competition facility. It’s a great place to snowboard and ski, and is conveniently only 15 minutes from downtown. During the summer, it’s used as a mountain bike park and a BMX track.

Fort Calgary was built in 1875, and is a great place to go to learn local history and to have fun with all of the interactive exhibits. The original for was torn down in 1914, but since has been rebuilt by volunteers using true-to-the-period construction techniques.

Going to Heritage Park is like traveling back in time. It’s sixty-six acres of living historical village, the largest in Canada. The park is divided into three different periods in Calgary history. There are plenty of antiques and recreations that make it an out of this world experience.
Devonian Botanic Garden

The Devonian Garden is a large indoor park in downtown Calgary. It covers 2.5 acres on three floors of the TD Square. There’s a mile of walkways in the climate controlled park, which has 135 different species.
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary

This 32 hectare reserve has a mile and a half of walking trails with 250 species of birds and hundreds more plants. It’s a great place to see wildlife in the city. Pets, bikes, roller blades, and bird food aren’t allowed, but admission is free.
