When moving to Idaho you will need to apply for an Idaho driver’s license within 90 days of residing in Idaho, whether or not your out-of-state license has expired. If you have a CDL, then that time period is 30 days. Students or active military members aren’t required to change their licenses.

Idaho driver’s licenses, instruction permits, or identification cards are issued through the county sheriff’s offices, and you can go to whichever one is most convenient.

Vehicle Registration
You must register your vehicle in Idaho within 90 days of becoming a resident. It needs to be title in Idaho before it can be registered, both of which can be done at the County Assessor’s office.

An Idaho resident is anyone whose principal home has been in Idaho for 90 continuous days, although residency may be declared at any time earlier, and vehicles may be titled and registered at that time. Idaho residents in other states may apply for titles and registration through the mail.

Below is the main County Assessor’s office in Boise, all of the offices may be viewed online at the DMV website.
