The golf course at the Alyeska Resort is open to the general public in addition to hotel guests.  Tee times are available from 5 am to 10 pm in the summer.  That’s right, 10 pm, when the summer sun lets you play through midnight.  The course is 6600 yards long for a par of 72.  There are also practice facilities, club rentals, lessons, and a variety of other activities at the resort.

Eagleglen is located on the Elmendorf Air Force Base but welcomes civilians.  The course covers 6700 yards from the far tees.  Tee times are available from 6 am till 9 pm; the civilian gate is open from 5:30 am until midnight.

Moose Run Golf Course

Moose run is on the US Army’s Fort Richardson but is open to the public.  It’s the northernmost 36 hole course in the world, and at 7,300 yards, is the longest in the state.  The Moose Run course’s 11^th hole is a 640 yard monster that plays through rocky terrain and has mountain views from every hole.

The city of Palmer’s course stretches out over 7,125 yards from the long tees and has a par of 72.  Some holes run along the Matanuska River, and a few other ponds dot the landscape.  You start out on a 600 yard par 5, and there are a few other holes that stretch beyond 500 yards.

If you’ve got a hankering to play a round during Alaska’s winter months, Par T may be the place for you.  It’s a golf simulator that has 10×14 foot screens that show many famous courses.  It’s near the Anchorage airport.

This short par 62 is lined with mature trees and has bunkers defending many of the greens.  The municipal course covers just under 4000 yards.  Tee boxes are artificial turf.

Settlers Bay is about an hour’s drive from Anchorage and is located in a residential development.  The course is a 6,600 yard par 72. Tee times are available until nearly midnight during the summer, so there’s always time to fit a round in.

Sleepy Hollow Golf Course

Sleepy Hollow is a par 27 course located an hour’s drive from Anchorage in Wasilla.  There’s water and bunkers to up the challenge, but the longest hole’s only 200 yards, so beginners can enjoy golf here too.
